🇦🇹 What information do I need to submit the home office allowance?

Through the home office allowance, employers can grant employees a tax-free daily allowance for specific working days spent at home. In this article, you will learn the requirements for eligibility and what information is needed for processing.

What can be reimbursed?

  • Amount: Up to €3 per home office day can be paid out – up to a maximum of €300 per person and calendar year.
  • Definition of a Home Office Day: Only days where you spend your entire working hours working from home qualify as a home office day.

IMPORTANT: As soon as you work even partially in the office or are traveling on business on the same day, that day does not count as a home office day and must not be submitted.

Step-by-Step Guide: Submitting Home Office Days

Since the home office allowance does not require a traditional receipt (such as an invoice), you log your days directly in the become.1 mobile app or web application:

  1. Open the become.1 app on your device or log in to the web application.
  2. Navigate to the Home Office module.
  3. Select the exact date or calendar days on which you worked from home.
  4. Confirm as an employee that you worked exclusively from home on the submitted days.
  5. Complete the submission.

Notes, Tips & Special Cases

TIP: For submitted home office days, no other tax-free daily allowances (such as meal allowances at physical workplaces) may be claimed if they are tied to physical presence at the company premises.

NOTE: The allowance applies regardless of your employment status (full-time or part-time). The sole deciding factor is that the respective day was spent entirely working from home.

Payout of the Allowance

The payout of your home office allowance is processed smoothly in the following month directly via your regular salary payment.
