Am I allowed to use my Leasy device privately—and who owns it?
Leasing hardware through your employer comes with many benefits. Here you will find everything you need to know about permitted private use, ownership, and how your device is protected.
Private use: What is allowed?
Yes, private use is explicitly and fully permitted without any restrictions! You can use your device in your everyday life just like your own—whether at home, on the go, or abroad.
- Full flexibility: You are completely free to install your own apps, use streaming services, and customize your personal settings and software.
- Connecting accessories: You can connect your own accessories (e.g., headphones or keyboards) to the device at any time.
- Multiple devices: If your budget allows for it, you can easily lease multiple devices simultaneously (e.g., a smartphone and a tablet).
Automatic device protection
To ensure you can use your device completely worry-free, comprehensive coverage is already built-in:
- All devices (laptops, tablets, smartphones, headphones, etc.) are automatically protected via become.1—without a separate contract and with zero deductible in the event of damage. For more information, read our article on Damage & Theft.
Ownership: Who owns the device?
- During the term: The device officially belongs to the leasing provider. Your employer is the lessee and provides it to you for your use during the 24-month term.
- After the term: As soon as the 24 months are over, you have the option to purchase the device. It officially becomes your private property only after you buy it.
