What information do I need to submit my mobility allowance?
Through the Mobility module, your employer provides you with a virtual mobility allowance. This allows you to get reimbursed for travel expenses within Germany. In this article, you will learn which information and proofs are required for the different types of trips and how the reimbursement process works.

Which trips can you submit?
There are two different categories under which costs can be reimbursed:
1. Private trips
In this category, you can exclusively submit expenses for Regional Public Transport (ÖPNV).
- Regular transit lines: Only trips in regular scheduled transit that have a fixed, provider-defined start and end point will be reimbursed.
- Pure travel costs: Only the standard fare can be reimbursed. Additional options such as seat reservations or upgrades (e.g., 1st class) are not eligible for reimbursement.
Note on the Germany ticket (Deutschlandticket): The Germany ticket also falls into this category, as it is used exclusively in regular public transport with fixed boarding and deboarding points.
2. Trips to the workplace
These trips are only eligible for reimbursement if they take place directly between your primary residence and your first place of work. You can choose from three areas here:
- Regional Public Transport: Bus, tram, subway, suburban train (S-Bahn), regional train, etc.
- Supraregional Transport (Long-distance): This includes IC, ICE, EC, Flixbus, or comparable high-speed and long-distance trains on fixed routes.
- Alternative Type of travel (Mileage allowance): If you use any other means of transport, the mileage allowance applies. You can get reimbursed for a one-way trip from your home to your workplace at 38 cents per kilometer.
IMPORTANT FOR THE MILEAGE ALLOWANCE: Fuel receipts, taxi, Uber, rented scooters (e-scooters), rental cars, parking fees, or seat reservations can only be reimbursed via the mileage allowance. To do this, simply enter the kilometers driven directly into the app—you do not need to upload any receipts or invoices for these means of transport.
What is the difference between Regional Public Transport and Supraregional Transport?
- Regional Public Transport: Refers to publicly accessible passenger transport on regular local, suburban, or regional lines. These trips have fixed routes and stops that you cannot customize.
- Supraregional Transport: Covers long-distance travel. This includes all Flex and Saver tickets for long-distance trains (ICE/IC/EC) as well as long-distance buses operating on defined routes with fixed stops.
Special regulations for tickets
- Discounted Germany ticket: If you purchase a ticket that is subsidized by your employer, your name as the employee must be clearly visible on the proof.
- Germany ticket Plus / Group tickets: For a Germany ticket Plus or group tickets, only the maximum amount attributable to the individual person submitting the claim can be reimbursed.
Payout of the allowance
All receipts and entries must be submitted by the 3rd day of the following month at the latest. The payout of your mobility allowance will then be issued automatically in the subsequent month along with your salary payment.
